Miss Pastor's Blog!

La Costa Heights Multimedia

The 3rd Grade students have been working on a project using Microsoft Word in conjunction with  a website called Wordel.

The students were asked to choose a topic, list words that represent that topic, and copy and paste the list into Wordel to create a Beautiful WOrd Cloud!

Keep an eye on the computer in the La Costa Heights front office…their work will be displayed for all to see!

Let me introduce myself…

I am thrilled to introduce myself to all of you! My name is Susie Pastor; I am the new Multimedia Teacher at La Costa Heights.

I grew up in a full house in San Jose, California with five brothers and sisters.  I was generally the athlete of the bunch, participating in everything from gymnastics to water polo.  I found my love for teaching when I became a swimming instructor and water polo coach in high school.

Knowing teaching was in the cards for me, I decided to make the move from San Jose to Long Beach to begin my journey of becoming a teacher. While playing on the schools Division I water polo team I earned my Bachelors Degree and Teaching Credential from CSU Long Beach.

For the past five years I have been a 5th grade teacher at a wonderful school named Beverly Vista in Beverly Hills. Although I miss my school very much, I am very excited to be a part of the ‘wheel’ here at LCH!  As a tech savvy teacher I used technology in my 5th grade classroom whenever possible; however, it is exciting to be able to work with a variety of grade levels and focus on technology each and every day.

As a teacher I have always been involved in extra curricular activities, including: leading the K-5 Student Council, becoming a union representative, joining the district GATE committee and the school’s leadership team.   I decided I wanted to learn more about being an educational leader, so I went back to school to earn my Master’s Degree and Credential in Educational Leadership.

When I’m not here at La Costa I enjoy painting, reading on my new Kindle, and taking my dog, Pickle, on walks.  Although I haven’t been in the pool for a few years I’ve found new athletic outlets including snowboarding and hiking. So far, living in San Diego County has been truly wonderful!  It is amazing to have the opportunity to join the LCH family.

Feel free to contact me if you have any question about the Multimedia program or just want to say hello!
